What is bill shock and how do I avoid it?

Bill shock is a term used to describe the very high bill users receive when they experience unexpected charges for using certain services.

With respect to International Roaming, using data, SMS or Voice in pay-as-you-go countries, during transit, or in-flight will incur high unexpected charges and thus, bill shock.

Check out our blog to learn how to avoid these charges. Meanwhile, here are a few tips to avoid bill shock:

  • Put your phone on airplane mode while in-flight, in transit or while on a cruise.
  • Switch on your data only once you reach your destination.
  • Avoid using SMS and Voice while traveling. Stay connected using only data.
  • Try and use WiFi whenever available to save on data charges.
